Doesn't seem that long ago that we were all in Oshkosh for the gala event...a big sorry to those of you who I meant to stay in touch but didn't, but sometimes life happens......

I think I can speak for all who were in attendance - THANKS CHUCK! Thanks for the idea, for your persistent detective work tracking people down, entertaining posts on the blog and getting us together. It was awesome so see all the old friends and worth all the effort that was done.

Also, thanks to everyone that showed up! Seeing all of you reminded me of how lucky we were to go through some great years with a great bunch of people. Hope you all keep in touch and we can meet at other events in the future. Shoobie

These are some pictures from North Scott Hall Regatta spring of '82. Lets take a look here, Cheryl and Kathy in the upper left,Shoobie and Taylor upper right,the Great Gumbino in the middle right, Sue and Cathie lower right---take a good look at the group shots, you may see your self.
I remember it was a very hot day, and the beer was flowin' good---then the wind shifted and the place was nearly empty. You all remember getting sunburn and then having the temp. drop 25 degrees, right? Bottom is Dan making a quick get away.....

I have been asked to post a new schedule, so here we go......

Friday----Dinner is scheduled at Frattello's 5:30 this is on the river, north of town -- call 920-232-2337 for reservations---we have a nice crowd planning to attend, hope you can join us....
afterwords we are planning to head downtown to the corners----CBC.

After party at Center City Hotel....

some of us will be in Oshkosh early, so if your in town we will probably be at Kelley"s

Saturday---Very busy day......

8:30--10:30-------Continental breakfast at Student Rec Center--on the river, West of North Scott

9-10:30---Trolley tours of campus (if you are so inclined)

also from 9-11 there are tours of Nelson, Breese and Clements Halls for our friends (or those of you who spent any time there)---check 'em out, they are coming down....

11am---Pregame celebration at tent city (Stadium parking lot)--music, food, etc. Shuttle buss from 11 until 1:30

1:30---Football game vs, Stevens Point
5th Quarter celebration after the game at Comfort Suites (on Hwy. 41) after the game...

Of course, some will bypass official activities and meet at Kelley's on the Strip to share memories and a beer.....open at 11 (I think, they haven't gotten back to me yet...)

I would imagine some folks will be heading out after the game and 5th quarter, am sure others will hit the bars, downtown is scheduled, but flexible....

Mary sent some pictures here from a Florida trip, I'm guessing probably spring of '79. I remember spring break in Florida---learned a lot. Bring enough beer and you get to sit in he back of the bus. You can get six or seven people in that little bathroom if you try really hard and the Fenning sisters are on board. Also know that the bus waits for no one, but they will pick you up if they see you walking up the freeway on ramp.........

I need to take a little time here to thank some folks for their help with the reunion. First of all at the UW-O Alumni Association are Christine Gantner and Linda Cotton. Christine helped with some of the planning and the Alumni newspaper articles. She also was able to provide info on graduates who lived in North Scott. Linda provided copies of the campus phone books from '78 to '80. They don't even have phones anymore. Invaluable information tracking people down. Thanks ladies! Mary was kind of the Fox Valley connection. She sent some pictures and helped track folks down. Thanks to Dan for doing some printing for us, and providing pictures and lunch. He was the first one in--think he was a little hesitent at first, now good to go. Debbie and Russ provided much support, including some pictures from Deb, and the Alumni Directory. Never knew there was such a thing. Shoobie is to be thanked for the technical stuff--espically the music!!! Burned a few hours for me. Also did much with the blog. Thanks Paul. Finally, gotta thanks Cathie and the kids. The kids think I'm crazy, she knows I am. Spent a lot of time trying to find people, writing letters, blogging....never once complained--lucky guy am I......

These are a couple of pictures celebrating St. Pat's in Oshkosh--on the left caption states it's l980--sounds good to me. I remember the 7th floor girls working on this bulletin board--don't know if any of them became teachers, but they had skills. I think this was the year they pretty much put the dorms on lock down---nobody in unless they were accompanied. Boy I had a lot of company that year, with Dan being MIA and all. All the stories---plants eaten, Phil making sure Doug got cold water and Wonder bread, the Tech school guys trying to throw bottles at 7th floor....ah what fun........where is the green beer?????

Here's a peach--Shoobie with a Pabst. Either way behind or way ahead of the times....can't quite figure out where this is taken--maybe the King Pin's house? Would make sense. Hey just flippin' channels the other day and what's on but the Urban Cowboy---got me to thinkin' about the old End of the Trail. Like to have a few of those nights back. Buck pitchers and free peanuts on Wednesdays--great way to start the weekend. You'd find peanuts in your pockets all week. Then they had that mechanical bull for awhile---never brave enough or drunk enough for that. And of course, Curley's Hat Band---one of my fav's. Everyone remember before that when the place was J. D. There are quite a few folks who read this blog (there are counters), so if your coming to the reunion please make sure you have your ducks in a row---hotel reservations if your staying, dinner reservations if your dining, etc. If your not going to be able to make it, sorry about that, you are going to miss one heck of a good time. We'll probably just talk about you. If you are undecided, hope you'll decide to come. If you heard directly from us, somebody who will be at the reunion wanted you found--if you were just directed here, hope you'll join us for a beer and some memories. Still more pictures from the 5th floor---these appear to be from the Regatta, must be spring of '79. Pictures are a little bit faded, but that tends to happen over the years I guess. The caption for the first picture says Kim Marge and Nancy--don't know the deal with the tickets saying 1973 though. In the second picture I can make out Mose, Shoobie, and Russ among others. Please take note that North Scott was well ahead of the times by having an alternative beverage on hand for those who may have preferred a non-alcoholic beverage. Third picture here is of Jamie and a couple of friends--I wonder why the police "cruiser" is there......

On another note--had a wonderful time at Mel's Pig Roast yesterday. Would encourage everyone to make plans to attend this event next year hosted by Tom Stanton --Mel. Cold beer, great food, nice weather, nice people, and a great cause. What more could you ask for?

Now this is what I'm talkin' about. Got a mother lode of pictures today of the 5th floor (which I have learned was not a quiet floor in our era). Vicki sent these in, and I'll get them on the blog asap. Looks like Faye, Michelle, Vicki and Lori here---next up looks like a couple of the boys doing a little burrowin' in. Next up looks like a bunch of the girls having a little hall party, and finally the '78-'79 floor picture. They must have had more discretionary funds to get the picture in color. Don't know how this happened, but.....just got an email from Spid Pieper. Spid was the singer at Scott Hall Regatta, must have been spring of '79. Remember it was a wonderful afternoon of beer and music, water sking and a trip to New Holstein. Great memories. Also saw Spid one weekend in the New Cow area, remember doing the gator in the middle of the state highway. Don't know if Spid is still out and about, but I'll let you know.....

Got to thinking about some of the inventions and innovations of the last thirty years or so. Obviously the PC has to be one if not the biggest change we've had. First PC in '81 (remember MS DOS?), the Web in '90. Then you've got the cell phone--not as big as big as a shoebox anymore. You have the IPod---amazes me, you're video gaming systems (quite different than PONG, which was pretty cool way back then). You've got cd's(already on the way out?), replacing the album--no more stacking the wax. Then of course there's all the medical stuff---and cloning! Interesting times we've been in---so what have I forgot?????

Found a few rare pictures of some of the folks planning on attending homecoming. A couple of people have contacted me and said they didn't graduate from UW-O, so they can't come. I checked all over the blog and in all the emails, etc. and nowhere do I see it stated that one has to be a graduate to join us. Either you lived in North Scott or we knew you--about the only criteria there are. I hope everyone we contacted shoes up---the more the merrier! Pass the info on to all you know, and we'll see you in Ochkosh during homecoming weekend.

I've completed sending out informational invites to the reunion this past week. I think I've sent the info to everyone I've ever heard of on the list I have of the folks who lived in North Scott in the late 70's early 80's. There are a few I've been unable to locate, so feel free to help! Take a couple of minutes to print out the letter from the April 2 blog, and drop it in the mail to anyone you can remember from Oshkosh. Received an email week or 10 days ago from Ray Cyrus. He spent 4 years as a resident in North Scott (record?). The thing that got me about this was that he was on 9th floor, which was the International floor. I had completely forgotten about this. I think Marcus and Scaboo lived up there, but I don't recall ever heading up or really having much contact with those residents. Another missed opportunity. Don't know if it is still an International Floor or not. Unfortunately, Ray will not be able to join us for the reunion.

Need to know by Sept. 2o if people are interested in a North Scott tour. If there is interest we have to set it up with the Alumni Association. Let us know at northscotthall@aol.com.

Difficult to believe it is only seven weeks until the reunion.....plan on wrapping up my search for people soon (depending on my clerical help), so if there is anyone you may want us to try and find, let us know soon. Need to take a moment here to address some concerns people seem to have about the reunion and why they may not be able to attend......your fish will be fine, you don't really need to change the oil, the cat does not need a bath, the boat can be winterized now!!!! I will guarantee every one of you except one that you will not be the oldest, youngest, tallest, shortest, heaviest, lightest, most successful, least successful, grayest, baldest, etc. etc. I don't think anybody really cares. Time to stop making excuses and start making plans to be in Oshkosh in October! Hope to see you there....

Sittin' around listing to some tunes from 1978-1983, what I have taken to calling the "Scott Hall Era", and for some reason I got to thinking about MTV, not the bogus trash of today, but the original 1981 MTV. Got to thinking about the VJs. Okay, who were they. First correct answer should merit some sort of prize. No cheating--that means don't go looking it up. Anyone have a good memory?

I sit here in August with the apparent onset of winter here. Reminds me of UW-O Winter Carnival from 1979. Carol (hall director) told me that we had twice as many people as any other residence hall, so we should go for it. Don't think Scott Hall had done anything in the campus activities before that, but we gave it a good run. I remember there was a snow or ice sculpting contest, a trivia contest, and of course the broom ball tournament (amongst other activities). I know some of the guys on the broom ball team were Dan, Ricky, Tom, Russ, Shoobie, and even Wenz I think (have no idea why I didn't play---seems like something I would have done). My favorite part is when I told Carol we needed more/better brooms. After much discussion she agreed, saying we could always use them for cleanup after the tournament. Of course, she wasn't very happy after we got a case of new brooms to see us sawing off the bristles so they would be more suitable for broomball. Sadly, North Scott was only able to take second place for the winter carnival. All that survives of the magnificent trophy is the face plate......guess we shouldn't have kept it on that shelf.........

Here's a picture of the guys from Thirsty's, JoeL and Dugan. I'm sure many of you ran across them when you had to go pick up supplies. I'll bet I spent 40 or 50 dollars there myself. Don't have any idea what the deal is with the Joan Jett--they probably don't either.
